Creep Deformation Behavior and Microstructure of Laves-strengthened Ferritic Heat-resistant Steels Containing Nitrogen or Carbon

چکیده

The creep deformation behavior and microstructure of a N-containing steel expected to exhibit high strength excellent oxidation resistance were investigated. Even for with W content, it was possible form martensitic by adding sufficient amount N. Comparison the microstructures C-containing confirmed that two steels have same crystal orientation relationship. precipitated Laves phase as strengthening displayed higher than conventional under relatively stress. However, superiority relative decreased low stress exponent different from those steel. This deference considered be ascribed difference variation dislocation density during deformation.

Effects of Carbon on the Microstructure and Hot Deformation Behavior

The effects of carbon content on the dynamic and static softening mechanisms of Ti microalloy steels were investigated both in ferrite and austenite regions. &#10The results obtained showed that recrystallization rate decreased as the percentage of carbon content was increased from 0.0035 to 0.110. This is due to the Ti(CN) and TiC precipitates and also the free carbon content. In the ferrite r...

Hydrogen embrittlement of ferritic steels: Observations on deformation microstructure, nanoscale dimples and failure by nanovoiding

While hydrogen embrittlement of ferritic steels has been a subject of significant research, one of the major challenges in tackling hydrogen embrittlement is that the mechanism of embrittlement is not fully resolved. This paper reports new observations and interpretation of fracture surface features and deformation microstructures underneath the fracture surface, providing a mechanistic view of...

Theoretical design of ferritic creep resistant steels using neural network, kinetic, and thermodynamic models

Creep resistant ferritic steels based on Fe–2·25Cr–1Mo and Fe–(9–12)Cr have been used extensively in the energy and petrochemical industries for more than half a century. This is because they have an outstanding record of reliability in quite aggressive conditions over time periods as long as 30 years. The alloys have undergone progressive development throughout their history,1,2 particularly i...
